How to create your own western themed room.

Creating a themed room is both fun and inspiring. Finding items to place in your themed room will become a regular hobby. Originally from the south, I am currently living in the desert and wanted a room to reflect my new found interest in the local culture.

In creating a western themed room, you want to find unique items that reflect your own personal taste along with cultural flare. Stumbling across things such as pottery, collectables, or hand made items is truly an exciting event.

Now that you are creating a wetsern themed room, you will find yourself going out looking for items that you may have over-looked in the past. Colors can totally change a room if you are looking for a simple fix. Warm orange tones and cool blues are favorite colors of locals. Even by painting one focus wall and creating a room around that is one way to do things.

If you reside in the west, then lucky you can go into your desert yard and collect all sorts of goodies. I have found many ways to decorate the wild gourds including painting them in different styles and creating them to replicate desert wildlife. If you do not reside in the west, then you can style find a number of things in your yard to use such as gathering skinny sticks and gluing them to edges of photo frames for a more rustic look.

I have noticed that people out west are not as likely as someone in the south to have window treatments. I would suggest using neutral color sheers against a bold color wall. I have found that a simple, solid colored bedspread along with a traditional western throw blanket make for delightful bedding coordinates.

I suggest hitting up local yard sales and flea markets, even if you are not in the western part of the U.S. because there are so many people that collect random things. Happy trails!
