Clutter: Keeps Negative Energy Hanging Around

Clutter: Keeps Negative Energy Hanging Around

Qi, by the way, is the Chinese word for "energy", good energy. The purpose of feng shui is to arrange your home to attract the good energy -- and all the rewards that go with it -- and to sweep out all negative energy.

Clutter helps to keep the negative energy lingering around and it also stalls the movement of the good chi. So, clutter is not acceptable in the house that's been properly appraised for the ultimate benefits of feng shui.

This sentiment, oddly enough, is now echoed by many organizational specialists. Some even suggest that by de-cluttering your house through the process of throwing out oneitem you don’t need, you can actually help boost the level of productivity at work.

I have to admit, I’ve tried it. And the day after I threw a clunky old storage cabinet out, I signed a contract with a new customer. Coincidence? Probably. But it certainly gave me the kick in the pants I needed to continue cleaning and organizing my home!

But what’s a person to do? Clutter, it seems, is a necessary evil of our consumer society. Even as we return from a shopping trip, we flip the television on only to see commercials telling us we absolutely cannot live without one more appliance, gadget or invention.

As we put our new purchases away, many of us discover we don’t even have room to store these due to the backlog of previous purchases.

We watch the news shows as they interview the new authors and their books. We decide, once we see them on Good Morning America, CNN, and even The Daily Show, that we absolutely must read that book. So we buy it (and thanks to the web, we don’t even need to leave the house to do that any more!). And there the book sits, unread on the floor in the living room or on the nightstand.

But even worse, in the eyes of some people, is the amount of time we can waste searching for a specific object because of the clutter we’ve accumulated in our homes and now increasingly spilling uncontrollably into our home offices.

Some experts claim that the average American spends one entire year of his life just searching for misplaced objects (I’ve met some individuals who obviously spend much more of their time in this quest!).

I had a supervisor in fact that kept so much paperwork that it filled his entire basement. We worked out of his quite spacious basement. Between the ads and catalogues of our competitors and the daily sales tally from . . . well, let's just say years ago . . . he had at least three folding tables cluttered with paperwork he seldom used and an entire ping pong table.

But when he did need that vital piece of paper . . . nope, he couldn't find it. He usually wasted a good three-quarters to an hour looking for it.Short of marching through your house, discovering what needs tossed and what you should keep, I can help you with some all-purpose advice. (You’ll have to be the person who “marches and tosses”!)

Part of having good feng shui is clutter management. If anything, clutter is the biggest hindrance you can have for the best flow of chi, prosperity and goodness in your life. However, few people are able to manage their clutter wisely. On a daily basis, we get tons and tons of stuff we won’t be really using for a long time. Here are some tips for you to help reduce clutter and invite good Feng Shui.

Anti-Clutter Feng Shui Tip 1: Sort your mail as it comes in

Incoming mail is one of the top sources of clutter. All those bills are not just stressful if mismanaged and stashed somewhere in your home, but it is also contributory to clutter in your home. If you are really serious about getting good Feng Shui, make sure that you are able to screen your mail. Establish a system for sorting all your mail. And this also holds true for other papers you may be keeping in your home. If you neatly categorize them and throw away the ones you no longer need, you will be much better off.

Anti-Clutter Feng Shui Tip 2: Opt for daily cleanings than reliance on major general cleanings

A general cleaning schedule is good, but if you are still not in the habit of cleaning on a regular basis, you may still find yourself filled with a clutter problem. So the best thing to do when you are trying to apply good Feng Shui is by exercising your cleaning powers on a daily basis, not just on a schedule. It does not have to be too rigorous if done on a daily basis. You can just start with the cleaning per day one area at a time to accomplish it effectively.

Anti-Clutter Feng Shui Tip 3: Clean as you work

While working on a project, clean as you go. This means that you will not just leave stuff lying around on the table as you do your work. This ensures that the work space remains clean, and this also implies that you are open for more productive work in the future since the space is wiped free of any traces from previously done work.

Anti-Clutter Feng Shui Tip 4: Be generous about your stuff

Give away the stuff you don’t need. This is a rule of thumb when it comes to cleaning up and freeing from clutter. Being generous involves giving away stuff you don’t really get to use. What you won’t use for a long time and collect dust may actually be an answer to somebody else’s problems. Just make sure that you are not transferring clutter but something that can really be of use to the person you are giving it to.

Anti-Clutter Feng Shui Tip 5: Dust frequently

Dusting frequently helps keep your place clean. Dust, when accumulated also forms the clutter which we are really trying to avoid in Feng Shui.

Anti-Clutter Feng Shui Tip 6: Evaluate your stuff brutally

If at all possible, have a peer to help you evaluate your stuff at home. What you may hold dear and refuse to part with is not just a sign of bad Feng Shui but may also be a sign of a hoarding problem. Aside from addressing your Feng Shui issues, the mindset on clutter ma also have to be dealt with accordingly.

Basic Facts About Feng Shui
The Chinese words Feng Shui literally mean (Feng) Wind and (Shui) Water. This highlights the emphasis of Feng Shui which put great reference to the nature, the environment and the surrounding.

cover s Feng Shui and Clutter an Essential Tip to KnowIn fact, Feng Shui has little or no connection with religion although Feng Shui is sometimes also being mistaken as part of Taoism. It is not, although they do have some similarities in certain theories about luck and environment. Feng Shui is in fact a study of the natural elements that can affect our life, health, relationship and wealth.

If you dig deep into the Feng Shui applications, they focus very much on the placement of the elements in your surrounding. A comprehensive and effective Feng Shui application focus on the placement of furniture, the design of the layouts and all things that enhance the physical and natural environment.

However, some Feng Shui practitioners use a lot of Chinese ornaments as Feng Shui cures and enhancements; this is because the application was influenced by Chinese Culture as it was originated from China more than four thousands year ago.

fengshui volume1 Feng Shui and Clutter an Essential Tip to KnowIn China, due to the Cultural Revolution that suppressed many ancient Chinese beliefs for decades, Feng Shui was almost lost to the world. Thankfully, there were many Feng Shui enthusiasts and practitioners who escaped from China during the Cultural Revolution and they were able to pass on most of the Feng Shui knowledge and application through the generations. Thus, do not be surprised if you observed that the Chinese in China do not know as much about Feng Shui or practice the Feng Shui application as much as the Chinese outside China.

It is common knowledge that our environments have a great impact on our lives. Feng Shui is the Chinese’s ancient way of understanding that influence. Thus, understanding of Feng Shui and the correct re-arranging of Feng Shui elements can lead to an improvement of our life, health, relationship and wealth.

An Essential Feng Shui Tip
“Get Rid of Clutter” - Almost every good Feng Shui class or seminar would say it so. Ever wonder why? That's because it's the truth. The basic premise of Feng Shui is that your life experience, even the extent of your luck – is influenced by your surroundings. Because your home or office would be tidy and neat on such a day. Isn't it so?

Many a times, Feng Shui tips are as simple as keeping your homes or offices neat and tidy. Getting Rid of Clutter is the most important way to dramatically improve the Feng Shui of your home.

It's a Feng Shui tip that many take for granted. They rather spend lots of money buying Feng Shui ornaments which ironically add to the clutter in their homes and offices,

Keep in mind that Feng Shui when applied in the wrong way can have adverse effects. So, please do not over do in terms of buying and placement of Feng Shui ornaments.
