Feng Shui, you have heard it mentioned but still are unsure what it really is. Well let's find out the true meaning of Feng Shui. Feng Shui is the ancient Chinese art of placement and stands for wind and water. The Chinese used this system to balance out the energy patterns of their physical environment with spiritual forces. Their ultimate goal was to achieve harmony, comfort, and balance, first within their environment and then within their lives. In the Chinese culture the gentle wind and the clear waters have always been linkedwith good health and a good harvest. So from this good Feng Shui means good livelihood and good fortune. On the other had bad Feng Shui means misfortune and hardship. So Feng Shui is a very important part of the Chinese lifestyle. Feng Shui is based around Taoist and their vision and an understanding of nature. This focuses specifically on the belief that land is a living being and is filled with Chi. The ancient Chinese felt that the land's energy could either help the kingdom prosper or cause it to fail and fall apart.

There are three principles behind Feng Shui. They involve design, placement, and proportion throughout the space. Without these three principles everything would become unbalanced and interfere with a person's health and happiness within their environment. The main tools that are used during the Feng Shui analysis is the Ba-Gua which is an octagonal grid that contains the acient symbols of the great I Ching and the compass. The I Ching is an ancient oracle which is what Feng Shui is based around. Knowing the Bagua for both your home and also your work space will be a great help to you to completely understand how the connection of certain specific Feng Shui in certain areas of both your home and work space can be linked to certain areas and parts of your overall life.

Now we move on to putting the Feng Shui into your home. Generally a consultant would come into your home and look at the five elements wood, fire, earth, metal, water (xuan kong flying star (north star), color, positioning of all the furnishings, and offer out cures for the problem areas). The colors associated with Feng Shui are: wood is blue and green, fire is red and some of the items for this would be a tea light or a tamp lamp with a red shade, earth is beige and yellow and the items for this would be a terra cotta pot with soil and a rock statue, water is blue and black and the items here could be a fountain or aquarium, and metal is an accent color made up of silver, gold, copper, and bronze.

When it comes to the positioning of your furniture you should always face it in the direction of all the action such as the front door or street. This will give you the perfect flow of Feng Shui. Yang is considered to be the most active energy. It is usually lively and busy such as a public place or a flowing river. This is generally the most windowed side of your home. It should contain a nice view and it is usually a living or family room. Ying is considered the least energy. This is usually found in the sitting direction of an alley or backyard. Shade trees highlight this area making it quiet and relaxing. This can be the side of the property and you would find the bedrooms in this area.

Place it so the cook can see the entire room. Keep the stove away from the window because the positive energy from this heat source could escape.

This eastern concept of balance has been adopted by westerners to promote harmony, prosperity, and family values. However, some people write it off as superstition. Decorating your home according to feng shui may not necessarily bring overnight success or health, but the act of placing belongings in a home so deliberately will be a constant reminder of those areas in life. And, when we are mindful of something, often we work harder for it. Feng Shui Map Room - How to Use Feng Shui Decorating and the Bagua Map to Change Your Life

Unless you've been living under a rock, you have probably heard a thing or two about Feng Shui. Generally, it is an age-old practice that originated from Ancient China. It's aimed at creating an external environment which is balanced and harmonious so that it can also lead to a balanced and harmonious internal life for you. Feng Shui Map Room

One of the key principles and techniques to help you with your Feng Shui home decorating is the Bagua Map. This particular map is helpful because it divides any given space into 9 different areas corresponding to your life areas.

Your Feng Shui home decorating should reflect the exact intentions of what you want to achieve in your life, also, it should be located in the right part of your home that will help you get there. The following areas in your house and relating areas in your life are as follows: fame and reputation is located in the north area, relationship and love is located in the northeast area, creativity and children is located in the east area, helpful people and travel is located in the southeast area, career and life path is located in the south area, skills and ancient wisdom is located in the southwest area, family is located in the west area and wealth and prosperity is located in the northwest area.

Basically, if you would like to improve an area in your life, you need to refer to the Bagua Map to zero in on the physical area in your living space that you need to work on.

When studying the Bagua, you need to understand that Feng Shui favors no area. All areas are treated the same and in order to achieve harmony and balance in your life, there must also be balance among all these nine key areas in your life.

Another thing that you need to keep in mind is that not all areas are just confined exclusively for the particular life area that it corresponds to. For example, the family area according to the Feng Shui map is located in the west of your space, but if you have other family areas located inside your house like the dining room area or the living room which aren't in the west, these existing rooms can also be enhanced to improve your family life. Now that you know the basics of the Bagua Map and what it can be used for, you need to learn exactly how to map it onto your homes floor plan before implementing your Feng Shui home decorating techniques. There are three simple steps that you can follow in order to do this.

Step 1: Notice that the nine areas are mapped out in a square, 3 by 3. Take careful note of the three squares found along the bottom of the Feng Shui map, which are: Skill and ancient wisdom, found on the left side, career is found in the center and helpful people and traveling can be found on the right side, when the map is held towards you.

Step 2: Now, when mapping the Bagua Map to your floor plan, you need to start with your front door as a reference point. To do this, you need to map out the different areas of your house on paper, a simple blue print. Then, overlay the Bagua Map on top of the floor plan that you made (make sure they're similar sizes). You always have to make the front door as your main reference point so line up the wall that contains your front door, with the 3 squares along the bottom of the bagua to correctly position it. From your front door, you can now determine what areas in your house correspond to the different life areas according to the map and start your Feng Shui decorating accordingly. As you'll see, North will be represented by your front door, and all of the other areas can now be clearly identified.

Step 3: Start to think of the first life area that you would like to enhance, and learn about the best Feng Shui decorating techniques that you can use there to bring you exactly what you want in this part of your life. Feng Shui Map Room
