The idea of Feng Shui is to transform your house into a square or rectangle.

You want to make sure that your property is going to benefit from Feng Shui in the fullest way possible. Once you make adjustments they will be challenging to reverse. Completing the square

In order to total your square, you'll fill in any location missing from your L-shaped or U-shaped drawing with dotted lines so you create a total square. If you already have a rectangle or square residence, you do not need to have to do anything to total your drawing.Once your residence sketch is in the form of a square or rectangle, divide it into nine parts. Split the length into thirds, then split the width into thirds.

That is all that is needed in sketching your own strategy. Now you are ready to start the approach of Feng Shuiing your home or work space.

3) In the kitchen, make positive your stove is not positioned opposite to refrigerator or washbasin. Likewise your stove must not be opposite a washing machine or toilet. If it is, attempt to move it. The conflict in between fire and water will lead to arguments and disagreements among couples and household members.

Question by vinsthemann: Feng Shui and fake plants/flowers as decoration in a house?
This is kind of a 2 part question. I heard on tv that fake plants and flowers are bad fend shui in a home. Anyone know if this is true? My mom has fake plants, trees, flowers all over her house and its the house I grew up in and I never was really comfortable there. I dont really consider it my childhood "home", that title goes to house i lived in when i was even younger. Of course there could be a million reasons for why I would feel that way, feng shui might have nothing to do with it but I wonder. Anyone out there know anything about feng shui? i also had some issues as a kid/teenager that started after we moved into my moms house (age 8 and over). again-could be for any reason but could "bad" feng shui have anything to do with it? okay for all you "feng shui is crap" folks out there, I understand your position but I happen to think theres something to it so if you dont have anything constructive to add please keep your opinions to yourself. thanks to all.

The Feng Shui or The Art of Allowing Harmony in Our House

You may have heard of yin and yang. These are two opposing energies, the feminine and the masculine, and both must be balanced. It should not be too much energy to be present at the expense of another.

You must choose the colors well. Depending on each piece, we do not put the same color. Indeed, it greatly affects our energy level, calm or relaxation. We must consider what we want to feel in every room of the house.

Red gives a lot of energy. When we feel tired, it's really the color you need. If you are exhausted, wearing red clothes for example. This color is not suitable for bedrooms as it can prevent sleep. By cons, that's great for a dining room. When we receive the world, people will not be sleepy at the table, even if there is plenty to eat.

The orange stimulates the end. It is perfect for a kitchen to enjoy eating. This is a softer color than red which is suitable for any other room.

Yellow helps creativity very well for a desk. It can also feel a little happier. It is perfect to give an impression of brightness to a room a little dark. It is also great for vitality.

Green is a very soothing color. But it is especially good for health. If you have a medical concern, surround yourself with green, put in as much as possible around you. It's a little more to promote healing.

Blue is very relaxing. It is very suitable for a living ..
Indigo is very soothing you can use it especially for a child's room because it helps promote good sleep patterns.

Violet is a very spiritual color that helps to improve and evolve. If you have the habit of meditation or relaxation, put purple all around you. Even a purple cover to cover you when you meditate will do.

The light has an incredible influence on what we feel. Besides, if most of the time we are in a better mood in the summer rather than winter, because of the brightness.
It is important to illuminate a room. Sunlight is the best light: economic and natural. If the sun is struggling to get into a room, try to optimize artificial lighting. This is important in the rooms where you are active.

By cons, to relax, low light is better. This is the case in a room. If you have a dimmer, that's fine. For example, a dining room can accommodate a lively lunch or a romantic dinner, depending on the intensity of light.

Smells help create a harmonious living environment. It would be nice if each room has its smell. Opt for natural odors, such as essential oils rather than artificial air fresheners trade. Incense cleans remarkably negative energies. It is used after an argument and helps to relax after a problem.

I'll give you some tips for the bedroom
you spend one third of your time in this room, so it's really important that the balance between yin and yang is respected. A bit of yang is necessary for you to feel motivated and fit, but if there is too much, it will prevent you from sleeping or relaxing. Therefore varying the yang elements (tiles, glass, dark wood, bright light, vertical lines, and square and rectangular shapes) and yin items (carpet, rounded and oval, pastel colors, light wood, cushions, curtains, soft light).

It is important that you are not directly in front of the door to sleep. If you sleep directly in front of the door, you are exposed to too much Chi, which can create stress. By cons, if the bed is slightly offset from the door, the Chi you achieve, but not directly, so you get better.

But you do not turn your back on the door when you sleep. You must be in front of the door but a bit on the side, not directly in front. Well, I'm repeating myself a bit, but I try to be clear.

Oh, also, it is also important that the bed is against the wall on the side of your head. A bedroom door must open completely so as not to block the energy.

Question by axdavis06: How to use Feng Shui to make an overstayed welcome parent move out of your house?
I am need of advice on how to use feng shui or any other tips to make my father move out of mine and my husband's house. He has been here too long and doesn't not seem to have any notion to leave. He is retired and says he just wants to be around us! His stay is getting bothersome to us but we do not want to hurt his feelings. I was hoping there was some feng shui cure for this but can't seem to find any. And we are in the process of trying to sell our house, so the feng shui correction can not interfere with that.
Thanks!
I just want to add that my father is healthy and has retired with a good deal of money. He does not "need" to stay with us. He can easliy afford something close to us. We love him dearly but as an adult, you move out of your parents house and you don't expect them to move back in with you - especially since he does not need to be cared for. It puts a strain on our marriage (only 4 years married) because we sometimes have no time to ourselves. I just want some advice on how to help him understand that we need our space too!
For those of you who feel sorry for my dad that I feel this way, you should know one more thing...
He does not help out with money, groceries or anything but expects me to cook and clean for him. He also sits out back of my house almost every day and just drinks beer - sometimes 12 a day. Now, I have 3 children - 12, 3 and 5 months and this is something that I don't want them exposed to. My dad can't even help babysit if I need to do something because he typically has already had too many beers.

Building A Feng Shui House - Feng Shui While Building House

Building A Feng Shui House

There are many things to take into consideration while involving feng shui into house construction. The first thing is to decide a good place for house. According to feng shui, the environmental chi plays an important role. Thus one should take utmost care while spotting a good place for home as it would welcome the positive energy into his house. Improper place shall not help even if one has the best feng shui plan in his hand. These places could be places near cemeteries, burial grounds, waste management centre, etc. or place which has hill side that falls away at back side or a place where the street makes a T-intersection at proposed place for house. Ideally one should have a slight rise at the back side of the house, an open front and a slight slope at the left (as one looks out from his house). This type of landscape is called as "arm chair" position.

The next step after finding an appropriate place for house is making an auspicious house plan. One should go for a normal rectangle or square plan but should avoid odd shapes like Z, U, H, T. A perfect square may sound bore but one may do some manipulations without missing the requisite corners. One should try to avoid large holes or cut outs such as central courtyard into a house plan. This may result into missing of energy, health or wealth. Building A Feng Shui House

Feng shui has an important theory into practice called "Five elements theory". If one understands how this theory works, it is easy to build a harmonious and auspicious home. For example, if one's house faces west or north-west i.e. metal directions, he may build up a house with stone features as it would be beneficial. Or if the house faces north i.e. metal element, then metal work or iron work during building of house is important as metal makes water. One should try to harmonize his home by using the elements associated with the direction. One can also make the facing portion of the house of the relevant material. For example, one can make a wood home for a house facing east or south.

One should try to personalize feng shui to bring optimum energy at his home. For example, if one has south-west as a success direction then he may put his home-office, bedroom, front door, etc at that direction. Similarly if he has east as his loss direction, then he may put his toilet, bathroom at those positions to restrict the negative energy. The personalization of feng shui should be according to the breadwinner of that house. Feng shui support goes to the person who is the bread winner or major support of that house. One should utilize all possible opportunities under feng shui to make his house a beautiful place. Application of feng shui is easy and simple. Building A Feng Shui House

Feng Shui Rules House - Feng Shui Interior Decorating Rules to Live By

Feng Shui Rules House

Feng shui is an ancient Chinese philosophy about understanding the relationship between humans and nature. Basically, the philosophy says that we are deeply affected by our physical environment, and vice versa. So, if we surround ourselves with beauty and kindness then we receive positive energy. Landscapers, environmental scientists, and architects study this theory. Many people have turned to feng shui interior decorating in their homes to attract the best possible health, wealth, and relationships.

The first rule of feng shui is to make sure the front or main door is always clear of clutter, shoes, umbrellas or anything else. This makes room for the positive energy to flow easily. Also, it is ideal to have a water fountain or feature somewhere in the home to attract and trap the positive energy.

There are different feng shui guidelines for each room in the house. Because a bedroom is meant for sleeping and intimacy, it is important to channel calm and romantic energy here. Fresh flowers and beautiful artwork are examples of ideal feng shui decorations. Feng Shui Rules House

If you have a home office there are a few simple feng shui rules. First, never have a desk facing a window. When sitting at the desk make sure your back faces a wall. Hang a mirror near where you keep money - this will create a doubling effect. If you can, have a separate entrance to the home office in order to keep personal and professional lives separate.

According to Chinese philosophy, the kitchen is a room that is the key to a successful life. Placement of the stove is most important. Do not put it in a corner. Place it so the cook can see the entire room. Keep the stove away from the window because the positive energy from this heat source could escape.

Feng shui interior decorating has become popular in the American home design industry. This eastern concept of balance has been adopted by westerners to promote harmony, prosperity, and family values. However, some people write it off as superstition. Decorating your home according to feng shui may not necessarily bring overnight success or health, but the act of placing belongings in a home so deliberately will be a constant reminder of those areas in life. And, when we are mindful of something, often we work harder for it. For example, a feng shui money tree will not start growing dollar bills, but the presence in the home will prompt a person to work harder or save more money. Feng Shui Rules House

Feng Shui Selling House Red Envelope - Feng Shui Your Studio

Feng Shui Selling House Red Envelope

If you live in a studio and think you can't use Feng Shui Principles to create your own small sanctuary, think again. The idea of Feng Shui is to promote peace and harmony in your surroundings and to implement changes to a positive flow of energy. There are simple and inexpensive things you can do to help you achieve this, even in a studio. Feng Shui Selling House Red Envelope

I know many articles have been written about clutter, but particularly in small spaces, organizing is an absolute essential way to begin. You always need to clear out the old to allow room for the new but with limited space it is particularly important to keep clutter out. What exactly IS clutter? Simply defined, it is something you don't need, use or love. It doesn't mean to keep something in case you think you may have a use for it next year. And you're not going to fall in love with something that you're not particularly fond of now.

It's time to let it go. You can donate it or try selling it. Clothes that you no longer wear or that don't fit can make you a little money on ebay if you have the time. Or sending it to a specific cause such as the victims of Katrina can give you a wonderful feeling. Do it, you'll feel better!

Now that your closets are clean take a look around your room. Is the furniture size appropriate for you space size? Are the pictures overwhelming on your walls? Generally speaking, in a small space less is better. Although a coffee table may be useful, removing it can open up your space a great deal.

A widely used Feng Shui Principle is to let the outside IN. Take advantage of any windows you have that would allow natural light in your space. If the view isn't the best you've ever had, use a few sun catchers to still allow the light in but deflect the less then desirable scenery.

Check the Bagua to see where each area of your home has an association and then compliment that area. For example, standing at the front door, your left back side of your space is your "wealth" area. Enhance it with a plant, a money frog or a small Red Feng Shui Money Envelope which could be hidden behind a picture. Remember to put three like coins in it first. Always remember with Feng Shui that your intention is 90% of what you'd like to accomplish by making a change so keep that in mind always when changing anything.

The back right Center of your space is Fame. The meaning of Fame is how you are known to the world (as a mother, a student, an artist) but also how you would LIKE to be known. If possible we use something with the color red in this area (to "light" up your fame) and add your name (which in Feng Shui "puts it out to the Universe). Feng Shui Selling House Red Envelope

The back right side of your space is your relationship area. Pictures of two are highly recommended here. If you have significant other, grace this area with pictures of the two of you. If you're looking for one, add a picture of yourself with a profile of someone you are looking for. We're not talking looks here, on the back I would like you to list the qualities you are seeking in that special "someone." This opens our lives not only to meeting someone new but also that we actually like and are in tune with.

Check the very center of your area as we relate this to health. Something here in the color green (a small floor mat or lush plant that is thriving) will help keep US healthy.
Needless to say, this area should always be kept especially clean!

Over to the front right side we find Helpful People. I love this area and think it is very much overlooked in Feng Shui. Here you can put simple things that loved ones have brought to you as a gift. When someone says "I was thinking of you and saw this", you'll know where it goes. By putting things that loved family and friends have given us in the past you will draw more helpful people into your life. Remember the law of Six Degrees of Separation!

The left front center indicates your knowledge area. It is a good place to store some books you plan to read again to put new ones that you have been meaning to get to. If you have a desk, it's also a good place for it if it works with your layout.

And what to do for your doorway, the entrance to your lovely studio? Always "Welcome" people into your space, either with a mat or a wreath that uses the word. We always want to make people feel welcome before they even enter our space. This also represents Career. Think about your career, if you're happy with it, would like to be promoted or if you'd like to look for something else altogether. Put a business card on the inside just above the door and if you're seeking a promotion, something next to it that would indicate a higher rank, such as another title. If you're looking for something else entirely, put something up there that reflects what it is you're looking for, whether it's working with a certain company or in a different field.

All of these changes should promote peace and enhance your lives with the Intention of what you're looking to create with Feng Shui and are simple and inexpensive. So get a start on it and watch things change in a positive direction! Feng Shui Selling House Red Envelope

Feng Shui New House - Feng Shui Tips For Choosing a New Home

Feng Shui New House

Here are some preliminary feng shui tips if you have set your eyes on a new house, and are just a step away from making it your dream home. The price is right, the sellers seem nice enough, and your agent swears there are others waiting in line for this piece of prized property. Feng Shui New House

Road forms

Do this as you drive toward the house. Observe the roads around the house.

There should be no roads pointing directly into the house.
The house should be at the concave bend of the road; i.e. the road should bend around the house rather than away from the house.
The house should not be at the dead end point of the road.
Roads that completely encircle the house, is inauspicious.
The house should not have roads on more than 2 sides.
Roads may not be found at both front and back of the house.
Houses near fast roads, like highways, train tracks, airport runways are very inauspicious.
Avoid houses near steep, heavy-traffic roads.
Avoid houses under or near flyover bridges.

Best are houses near quiet roads, streams or flowing ponds. Houses around a large cul de sac are good, provided the road entering it is not pointing towards the house.

Land Forms

Buildings, along with natural land forms like hills and mountains affect the feng shui of a house. A good way to observe this is to stand outside the house and look around. In apartments, it is also good to take a look outside every window and check the view.

Avoid houses that are dwarfed by other buildings. The same concept for houses facing cliffs and large rocks.
Look out for sharp edged structures like corners of buildings, pointed roofs, jagged mountain rocks, or huge sharp edged sculpture pointing toward the house. These bring inauspicious energy to the house.
Power stations near the house, and power lines running over the house brings inauspicious energy too.
Buildings, places that represent sickness and death, in the vicinity affects the house with oppressive energy. Avoid houses near hospitals, grave yards, hospices, slaughter houses.

The Neighborhood

No man is an island. No matter how nice a house is, its Qi is ultimately affected by the surrounding neighborhood.

Be wary of unusually "quiet" neighborhoods. Stay away from neighborhoods that have too many vacant houses, no sign of children, pets, or other fun human activity like gardening. These places have dead qi.
Too many unfinished, run-down houses indicate overall bad feng shui.

Activity from children, animals and people doing things like sports is a sign of a healthy neighborhood. Feng Shui New House

House Entrance

How do you feel as you approach the entrance of the house? Use your gut feeling. It is necessary to be aware of the need for intuition of this sort before viewing the house.

Avoid houses if the main door gives you the feeling of being threatening. Some times you may not understand why it makes you feel uneasy, but it is wise to take it as a sign that is is bad feng shui.
Avoid houses where you cannot find the main entrance door. These kinds of houses do exist, maybe because of strange structure, overgrown garden, or irregular shaped plot of land. It you cannot find the entrance easily, good luck will find difficulty entering the home too!
Entrances that look like they are being capped by an out-of-shaped awning, strange over-sized roofs should be avoided too.

The entrance of the house should be inviting to you, the prospective buyer of the house. If you feel threatened as you reach the main door, chances are, this is not the right house for you.

Interior and Structure

Needless to say the structure of the house is everything in Feng Shui. Enter a prospective house with a conscious effort to feel it's ambiance. Use you five senses to intuitively audit the house.

Avoid irregularly shaped buildings, buildings with protrusions, triangular shape, spear shaped buildings are notorious for bringing down relationships in the family. This is because the more irregular shape will mean more sharp wall corners in the house. Rectangular shaped buildings are the best bet.
Roof should be the right size. If a roof dominates the house structure, occupants in it will probably feel dominated too.
Windows bring in light and qi. Houses with windows too small or too few windows trap stagnant qi.
Long corridors are common in many houses. This a poor feng shui feature, because it allows little movement and "sha qi" brought about by a bottle neck effect.
Sniff out humidity and dampness. This is common in cellars and attic. Avoid homes that have signs of dampness and humidity because it is a precursor for bigger problems later on. You can smell dampness in enclosed rooms. Other signs are water stains on walls and fungus.

The home is a big investment for most of us. In terms of Feng Shui, this investment is not only money, but also an investment in the wealth and health of your family and relationships. It is a worthwhile effort to check the feng shui of a house before deciding to buy it, because feng shui cures can be expensive and sometimes impossible to do. Feng Shui New House
