A Feng Shui Tip from E. J. Shaffert, Director of London School of Feng Shui

Years before I started studying Feng Shui, I discovered an important Feng Shui concept by following my own inclinations.

I was out at a restaurant in Washington D.C., and my friend asked me which seat at the table I would prefer.  I told her that I wanted to take the seat against the wall, which would give me a view of the room and of the entrance to the restaurant.

The couple at the table next to us overheard the conversation, and the man agreed that he, too, liked to sit with his back to the wall, and we joked about gangsters who always wanted to have an eye on the entrance, and perhaps this preference is a basic “man thing.”

Years later, I discovered that I was referring to an important Feng Shui concept:  The Command Position.

This concept states that the most powerful position in a room is the place where we have a solid wall behind us, and a clear view of the entrance to the room.

It is best not to be directly in line with the entrance, because then we may feel too exposed, but rather should be opposite the entrance and a bit to the side.

If you imagine how a CEO of a company would set up his/her office, this is probably exactly what you will find!

In the coming week, notice where you tend to position yourself at home and at the office: your favorite chair, your bed, your seat at the dining table, and your desk. And of course, when you eat out!  And start to explore ways that you can adjust your seating so that you are in the Command Position.

Then, next week, I will tell you about a time when I made an adjustment in my Command Position at home, and my life changed dramatically.

Enjoy–
