A Feng Shui Tip from E. J. Shaffert, Director of London School of Feng Shui
On our previous blog, we have been focusing on the powerful influence that your front door has on the flow of energy, abundance, and opportunity in your life.
The question now remains: what happens to this “chi” energy, once it enters your space? Does it enrich your inner environment and your life, or does it depart as quickly as it comes?
One of the most important aspects of a Feng Shui investigation is to look for what are called “energy leaks.”
We know what a hole in a bucket will do to the water that is in it; the same effect happens when there are “holes” in our home environment which allow the energy to exit our homes, and therefore our lives, as easily as it comes in.
One of the biggest culprits that cause this effect are windows that are located directly opposite the front door.
If you have this placement in your home or office, I can practically guarantee that money coming in will go out just as quickly.
If you stand at your threshold, looking in, and you see a window directly opposite, you are faced with a serious Feng Shui problem.
Now, before you reach for the hammer and nails to board up such an offending “leak”, please consider that there are other options for fixing this problem.
As an example, my wife and I had a flat that had a large window opposite the front entrance. Simultaneously, we had a house in the USA that had been on the market for over a year, and would not sell.
I was convinced that this window placement in our current flat was linked to this energy/money leak of having to pay a mortgage on a house that we did not occupy.
So, we installed a simple Feng Shui cure: we put a large chest in front of the window, and on top of the chest, I put a beautiful, large picture of a castle. So then, when we entered the front entrance, we first saw the chest and the picture, which partially obstructed the window behind it.
And, guess what? Within two weeks, we got an offer on the house, and sold it!
Ah…just a coincidence? Perhaps…but I have a stack of similar “coincidences” that I can report to you!
This week, stand inside your threshold and notice if there are any energy leaks that could be causing the “chi” energy, and the money coming in, to leave as quickly as it comes.
And then, next week, we will explore further ways to use Feng Shui to treat the money leaks in your life.

I have a question regarding you picture you placed in your home to cover the window…does it have to cover the entire window? or can it be smaller?
thanks 🙂

Love this! I realized I had this leak in my apartment because my front door opens and you immediately look out the balcony sliding glass doors! I hung a feng shui crystal above the sliding glass doors plus added a long strip of white out tape in the track of the door and colored in nine red circles to keep the energy flowing inside!
I just read tip 3 and tip 4 this morning and had a very surprising thing happen. Every morning I go outside and I pick up after the dogs, sweep the patio, sweep the area in front of the door, sweep in inside in front of the door and living room, and make sure there are fresh flowers in the living room every week. Over the past week or so laundry has been outside drying and supplies from a recent camping trip have just been left on the patio. After reading tip 3 & tip 4 I felt motivated to fold and put away all the laundry, and organize and store the camping stuff, ensuring that what I see (and others) looking in on my house and property is clean, clear, and has flow. As I was cleaning, I kept in mind that this will help with the sale of some property that has become a huge financial burden to us. I started work at 9am and my partner came in to my office about 1.5 hours later and said there’s an opportunity to trade the property for a new 4×4 luxury vehicle (we have been desperately needing a new car, we just have an old Subaru Brat, while cool, has loads of mechanical issues and we can’t drive long distances with it and so many other issue!) So to wrap up a long story, by being very intentional with my feng shui practice, this beautiful opportunity came up to be relieved from a burden and welcome a new gift. Thank you for sharing these tips, it’s very exciting to be in connection with the energy in my home. xx

QUESTION FROM VANESSA PIEDRA:
I have a question regarding you picture you placed in your home to cover the window…does it have to cover the entire window? or can it be smaller?

RESPONSE FROM EJ:
When I applied this cure in our home a few years ago, we desperately wanted to sell our home! So the picture I put at the window was poster size and covered most of the window. It seemed to do the trick!
Q+A:

My question is: Do the front door and the opposite window need to overlap on the floor plan, to be an energy leak?
Or is it enough to simply see a window from the entrance (even if it is enough to the side to not overlap)?
And finally, is it the entrance door to the building that is more important for this, or the apartment door – or even both?
Response:
The biggest leak will occur is the front door directly faces a window or door.If they partially overlap, there will still be some leaking but not as severe. If you live in an apartment, this will apply to the apartment door.- EJ
