A Feng Shui Tip from E. J. Shaffert – Director, London School of Feng Shui

Sometimes, it amazes me how much we have in the modern world.

Truly, if we took all the possessions that a small family has in their home and laid everything out side by side, it might need the space of a football field.

And yet, many of us still go through life feeling deprived.

How can this be?

The truth is, we may be trying to fill an inner feeling of emptiness with unnecessary possessions, busyness, and activity.

We keep adding more and more, hoping that life will feel full. And yet, even with all this “stuff” around us, we may still feel dissatisfied inside.

Here is a simple Feng Shui experiment:

Go to the drawers in your bedroom and look honestly at the clothes you are storing there. Ask yourself:

How much of this clothing do I actually wear on a regular basis?

And how much of it do I truly like?

If the answer is, “Not much…”, then this may offer an important clue.

The drawers of your home may be full of things you no longer want, need, or enjoy. And on a deeper level, the “drawers” of your life may also be full — leaving very little room for anything new to enter.

So try this approach:

Choose a few drawers in your home and clear them until they are only half full.

That’s right — leave 50% of the space empty.

This may feel strange at first, especially if you are used to filling every available corner. But in Feng Shui, empty space is not wasted space.

There is an old expression: Nature abhors a vacuum.

When you intentionally create space, you create a natural pull for fresh energy, new opportunities, and greater abundance to come in.

Practice this with a few drawers in your home this week, and notice how it feels.

In the next Feng Shui Tip, we will explore more ways to create space for something new to enter your home — and your life.
